I cannot say enough amazing things about this wedding! It was seriously such an honor to be a part of an incredible day with all of these incredible businesses and couple.

When Rasa first reached out, I was so intrigued by the initial design she was wanting. It ended up going a completely different direction but it was the right move! The final design had to have a few things included. She wanted dried citrus to match hints of dried citrus throughout the rest of her wedding. We wanted some color behind the citrus. And there needed to be gold.

We landed on a 2-tier mixed height size. It gave the perfect number of servings that Rasa and Ben needed for their guest count. Besides that, the tall bottom tier was actually a carry over from the initial design request which was an aspect that Rasa loved. I was so happy that we got to include that in this new design and I think that it makes this cake feel very modern. The bottom tier was my Black + White flavor, a chocolate cake, white chocolate ganache filling and vanilla buttercream. The top tier was Strawberry Shortcake, a vanilla cake, strawberry filling and strawberry buttercream.

I cut and dried each citrus slice myself so I could make sure I had plenty of options in color and size. There were naval oranges, blood oranges, grapefruit, lemon and lime. Such a great variety that really provided some beautiful colors. The color behind the citrus is based off of the accent color on Ben and Rasa’s wedding website! I used a couple different ColourMill colors to color match. Lastly there was plenty of edible gold leaf added to the cake itself behind and around the citrus. In order to get the gold on the actual citrus I used gold luster dust to make a gold “paint” and added flecks of the luster dust so it really could shine.

I was told that Rasa and Ben had the largest outdoor light tent that’s been created in Arizona so I absolutely had to include a couple photos from Carmela Joy Photography (Website + Instagram) of this incredible scene! Aren’t her photos just to die for?!

The wedding took place at A Venue on Washington and it was the perfect backdrop for the entire day.

Thank you so much Rasa and Ben for trusting me with your wedding cake. It was an absolute dream to create something so unique! Congratulations!
