Weddings

I received some beautiful photos of Leslie + Alex’s wedding and decided that I absolutely needed to share all of them! And so begins the blog posts of photos that I hopefully continue to receive from photographers of weddings and events that I am a part of. I can’t wait to share them and talk about the cakes that I made in more detail. An Instagram post is a nice snapshot but there is so much planning and work that goes into cake design that someone out there must want to know more.

Leslie and Alex were actually some of my first clients when I wasn’t even doing full cakes yet! They ordered cakesicle treat boxes from me when I just started my business and were with my full circle when I switched to wedding cakes they chose to work with me. An absolute honor! I am so thankful to have clients who repeatedly work with me, it truly is the highest compliment.

Leslie and Alex wanted to go with a lace design on the cake. A small cutting cake was the perfect size for what they needed so we went with an 8” vanilla bean cake with vanilla bean buttercream frosting. What’s wonderful about vanilla bean is you can actually see the little specs of the vanilla bean throughout the cake and on the frosting inside, it’s a delicious vanilla flavor! The lace design is hand piped with royal icing and took 2-3 hours. They opted to allow me to choose the lace design so after sketching it out I used toothpicks on the top of the cake to make sure each section was equal. I then fully completed one side straight on before turning the cake and repeating the pattern all the way around the cake.

I love the faux flowers, that bring in their wedding colors, and the adorable cake topper they provided that I placed on site at Secret Garden by Wedgewood Weddings in Phoenix, Arizona! These beautiful photos were taken and provided by Kenna McGee Photography (Instagram: @kennamcgphotos)

Thank you Leslie and Alex for the continued trust and support! It was a pleasure as always to work with you, especially on a day that’s so important. Congratulations!
